Wheels of Change: Building Dreams One Bike at a Time

On a bright Saturday morning in February, the GSF Foundation, Taco Bell Foundation (TBF), and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County (BBBS) came together for a heartwarming event to benefit local children on the BBBS match-up wait list. The kids, guided by their "Bigs for the Day"—Taco Bell franchise owners, members of the Food Innovation team, TBF Live Más Scholars, and other dedicated volunteers—eagerly assembled their very own bikes, piece by piece. The air buzzed with excitement as the groups tightened bolts and adjusted handlebars.

As experienced volunteers completed the final safety checks, the kids decorated their helmets with stickers to match their new two-wheelers. With wide eyes and hearts racing, they took their bikes for a spin around the safety course! For many, this moment marked their very first time owning and riding a bike, and the pure joy on their faces said it all.

“I love my new bike!” said Lenny, a “Little” awaiting a “Big” match. “My favorite part of the event was working with Raj and Naomi.”

The event wasn't just about bikes—it was a celebration of mentorship and community spirit. Each child left with more than a shiny new bike; they carried with them newfound confidence and a sense of accomplishment. Likewise, volunteers gained experience as mentors and set in motion a promising new partnership between two corporate Foundations and an impactful charity serving local youth.

Loretta, mom of James, another “Little” who participated that morning, shared: “James and I hit up our local park to break in his new bike. Thank you and the team for an incredible experience.”
