During the winter months, GSF Foundation committees brought warmth and care to local youth through the Coats for Kids program. Several teams donated new coats to children in communities where GSF associates live and work, helping nearly 500 children in need. Since the program’s launch, the Foundation has provided nearly 6,800 winter coats to children, many of whom relied on old, worn-out jackets or endured harsh weather without sufficient protection.
This year, the GSF Foundation team at QCD in Suffolk, Virginia, made the largest impact by donating 180 coats. The committee distributed the coats across three schools, where each location supported 60 children with new winter gear to stay warm throughout the season.
In Minneapolis, Minnesota, the QCD team provided more than 100 coats to a local elementary school, helping nearly one-third of the school’s enrollment stay bundled up this winter.
Meanwhile, in Irvine, California, GSF Foundation volunteers focused on homeless and unaccompanied teens, donating nearly 40 coats. The team curated a selection of styles, allowing teens to pick their favorite options, and wrapped each coat as a holiday gift to add an extra touch of care and celebration.
Other QCD teams in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Seattle and Spokane, Washington also contributed to the program, delivering warmth and hope to families navigating financial challenges.
“This program creates a positive impact for children and families in need,” said Vanessa Hugon Badal, Senior Director, Operations and Programs. “A warm coat doesn’t represent a luxury—it fulfills a basic need. Families facing financial hardships often struggle to purchase new coats for their children. I encourage our committees to connect with local schools or nonprofits to identify where this program can make the greatest difference. Together, we help our neighbors in need feel warm and cared for during the cold months.”
Through their efforts, GSF Foundation teams continue demonstrating compassion and commitment, warming hearts and communities, one coat at a time.
