GSFF Sumner Partners with Local McDonald’s Owner/Operators to Donate 520 New Shoes to Children in Ne

Sometimes families dealing with financial hardship struggle to provide suitable footwear for their kids to wear. Without proper shoes, kids are unable to participate in sports, recess and school activities, which not only keep them healthy but keep them engaged with other students.

Inspired by the GSFF Chicago’s donation in January, the GSFF Sumner team partnered with two local McDonald’s Owner/Operators to provide 520 kids at Mark Twain Elementary School with brand new athletic shoes. Mark Twain Elementary located in Federal Way, Washington is a Title I school (categorized as a school with a high percentage of low-income students), with over 72% of its students receiving free or reduced price lunch.

Laura Kniss, GSF Foundation committee chair and GSF customer representative supervisor, turned to her community to help make a difference for these students.

“The Sumner GSF Foundation Committee is so proud to partner with our valued McDonald’s customers, David Santillanes and Stan Pennock to help these children in need,” said Laura. “When we team up with other partners in the community, we’re able to make an even bigger impact, and together we’re helping hundreds of children in our backyard reach their fullest potential.”

Thank you to all of the Sumner, McDonald’s and local community volunteers who made this event a success!
