Golden State Foods Facilities Across the Country Step Up to Help Victims of Hurricane Joaquin

Inspired by the $5,000 donation of the GSF Foundation Lexington Committee and the acts of QCD in Charlotte, North Carolina with their Chick-fil-A partnership to deliver 25,000 bottles of Dasani water to emergency shelters for the victims of Hurricane Joaquin, more than 20 additional GSF facilities have stepped up to raise funds for disaster relief through the GSF Foundation. Two weeks ago, the Lexington committee quickly donated $5,000, which was matched by both Conyers and Garner facilities. As of Monday, October 19, more than 20 centers have donated funds, totaling $66,000! All of the funds raised will go to the purchase of canned goods and supplies which will be donated to children and families in need served by Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia, South Carolina, whose mission is to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education. GSF Lexington will stuff at least one truck full of canned goods and supplies and associates from Lexington, along with the GSF Foundation, plan to deliver the items to Harvest Hope Food Bank on Thursday. “I am honored by and inspired to work alongside Associates who are so generous and eager to help children and families in need and affected by Hurricane Joaquin,” said Anna Lisa Lukes, Executive Director of the GSF Foundation. “To see the momentum gained after one facility donated was inspiring, and within hours we had raised more than $66,000. I am so proud to represent this Foundation, and the wonderful people at Golden State Foods.”
