It’s Back(pack) to School season! This year, GSF Foundation volunteers at 28 GSF, QCD and KanPak facilities will be helping 13,750 kids in need start the school year off right.
“For many children and families, backpacks and school supplies are simply not affordable purchases,” said Anna Lisa Lukes, executive director of the GSF Foundation and GSF director of corporate social responsibility. “The GSF Foundation believes that every child deserves to begin their academic career with the tools necessary to become an engaged and successful student, and we hope to be able to contribute to that effort with our Back(pack) to School program.”
Throughout August and September, GSF Foundation volunteers will be visiting schools across the country to donate backpacks filled with school supplies to kids entering the 2017/18 school year. The local Foundation committees work with school principals and administrators to identify those kids who are most in need of assistance.
“Providing these academic necessities to at-risk children promotes and encourages attendance as well as boosts self-confidence,” says Melissa Nolan, GSF Foundation KanPak chair and KanPak plant controller.
Thank you to all GSF Foundation associates who are volunteering their time to help their local kids succeed this year. Check out pictures from the field here!
